SET IN STONE
Egyptian artifacts photographed at the Field Museum became a focal point of this painting. I digitally blended them with scanned images of fossils from my collection as a starting point. It is part of the continuing series of paintings using digital creations as reference. The title came to me upon completion. I’m still surprised by how well it works and points out one of art’s most obvious and fundamental purposes. There are so many things we would not know about past human life or all life on earth unless it had been recorded in some way.
